UV-Printed Flat Cut Acrylic: Logos
Frequently asked Questions
How are text and graphics applied to Flat Cut Acrylic signs?
In UV printing, text and graphics are applied directly onto laser-cut acrylic signs using UV-curable inks. These inks are cured instantly with ultraviolet light, which results in a vibrant and durable print. This process allows for precise and high-quality reproduction of text and graphics.
We also have two ways of printing on the acrylic.
The Print on Top method gives a bold and direct look which makes the design visible from afar.
Next, there’s the Print on the Back method. This results in a polished-looking finish and adds depth to the print because of the transparent acrylic in front of the design.
What finishing is available for UV-Printed Flat Cut Acrylic: Logos?
We offer matte finish for the UV-Printed Flat Cut Acrylic signages.
MATTE FINISH
UV-printed signs with a matte finish offer a subdued appearance with low reflectivity, making them ideal for areas with changing lighting. This finish enhances readability and reduces glare, while also being resistant to fingerprints, smudges, and scratches compared to glossy surfaces.
Are Flat Cut Acrylic Signs suitable for outdoor use?
Yes, we can make your acrylic signage suitable for outdoor use by adding waterproof protection. However, please note that acrylic signs are not as robust as metal signs for various weather conditions.
If you need an exterior sign with more durability for various weather conditions, we recommend our Metal Signs, Metal Channel Letters, and Neon Channel Letters for increased durability and longevity.
What is the minimum cuttable stroke for Flat Cut Acrylic signs?
The minimum cuttable stroke is the thinnest line a cutting machine can handle. For example, if the minimum is 10 millimeters, any line or detail must be at least that wide to cut properly.
Related: What is a minimum cuttable stroke?
Here’s the minimum cuttable stroke per acrylic thickness:
| Acrylic Thickness (Inches) | mm | Minimum Cuttable Stroke (mm) |
| 1/8 | 3 | 3 |
| 1/4 | 6 | 3 |
| 3/8 | 9 | 3 |
| 1/2 | 12 | 5 |
| 3/4 | 19 | 8 |
| 1 | 25 | 10 |
| 1 1/2 | 38 | 10 |
Double-sided tape
The minimum stroke for 3M double-sided tape is 10mm.
Studs
For stud pins: The minimum stroke is 12mm (1/2”) and the minimum acrylic thickness is 1/4″ (6mm). Thinner acrylic cannot accommodate stud pins.
What if I need a sign with slim lines or sharp points?
If you choose thinner acrylic beyond our recommended thickness for studs, it must be glued to the wall with glass or construction glue instead of using stud pins. This is because it will not be effective in supporting the slimmer acrylic.
Sharp, thin points aren’t ideal unless requested. Sections will be cut for shipping; you can glue them together upon receipt. Small connections may break easily due to a lack of support.
How should I maintain my Flat Cut Acrylic Sign?
Materials Needed:
- Mild soap
- Lukewarm water
- Soft, non-abrasive cloth or microfiber towel
How to clean
- Clean your acrylic sign with lukewarm water or add mild soap if needed.
- Use only a soft cloth for cleaning to avoid scratching.
- After cleaning, gently blot the sign dry with a soft, clean cloth.
AVOID THE FOLLOWING
- Abrasive Materials: Do not use rough or abrasive scouring pads, cloths, or brushes, as they can scratch and damage the surface of the signage.
- Incorrect Cleaning Products: Avoid using cleaning products not designed for the specific material of the signage. Always check the label to ensure the cleaner suits the signage material.
- Harsh Chemicals: Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the surface, especially on materials like acrylic and UV-printed signs.
- Excessive Pressure: Do not apply excessive pressure when cleaning, as it may cause scratches, especially on sensitive surfaces like acrylic or painted finishes.
